Peugeot 3008 is a crossover / SUV that has been on the European market since the 2008 model year but in two different forms. The first generation was manufactured until 2016 and was awarded the title "Car of the Year 2010" by the British motoring magazine "What car?", with the motivation that the 3008 was both economical and fun to drive. The choices of engine were several in number and the smallest variant was a petrol-powered 1.2 liter and 130 horsepower with a CO2 emission of 123 grams per kilometer with the six-speed manual box. The model was also available with larger petrol engines but also with an economical 1.6 liter diesel engine.

Somewhat later in the life cycle, a hybrid drivetrain (unusual in Scandinavian markets) was also introduced with a diesel engine of 2 liters and a helping electric engine and in 2012 it was the world's first hybrid car with diesel engine. The second generation of 3008 was launched in 2016 and was very different in appearance than its predecessor. Gone was the hybrid engine (initially) and instead only offered the 1.2 liter three-cylinder petrol engine as the most cost-effective and environmentally conscious choice. This engine has 130 horsepower which may may sound little for an SUV but like many other car manufacturers, the cylinder volume is now slimmed down to get better fuel consumption and environmental performance.

Gone also was the term "crossover" and the Peugeot 3008 from 2016 year model is an SUV with high ground clearance and larger interior and exterior dimensions. New to the model was also Peugeot's so-called "i-cockpit", a layout inspired by the aircraft cockpit with the almost oval steering wheel and framed driver environment as well as highly placed gauges. A design concept that even some Citroën models adopted. In 2019, Peugeot 3008 came as a charging hybrid (the definition of a charging hybrid is that it can only be run on electricity by recharging the battery while having an internal combustion engine with either gasoline or diesel, of which gasoline is most common).
