1. The battery

The electric car battery is the most important and expensive part. Therefore, check how long the warranty lasts and that there is written information about the battery. It may also be good to know that the battery warranty is 8-10 years for most electric car models.

2. Cables

Double check which cables are included in your purchase. If you don't bring all the cables and cords you need for your used electric car, it can become a complicated story to replace these afterwards.

3. The reach

Check the actual range before you buy your car. If you get the opportunity to test drive the car, you can see the energy consumption in different situations and thus find out your own range. Worth keeping in mind is that several factors can affect the actual range. Among other things, the range can be affected by temperature, whether the road is dry or not, motorway driving and driving style.

4. The stretch

Do you commute relatively short distances on a daily basis but need to travel longer distances from time to time? Then a plug-in hybrid, which can run on both electricity and fossil fuels, could be something for you. Then you can manage your daily activities on electricity, but fill up the car with petrol as usual when you drive longer.

- But having said that, development in electric cars is, as you know, going fast. With a growing network of charging stations, faster chargers and cars that can receive higher voltage, the possible problem with longer distances will be gone, predicts Roger.
